MEYER DEFEATS SANTEN
WANGANUI WRESTLING OPENS.
By Telegraph—Press Association. Wanganui, Last Night.
Two American wrestlers, Fred Meyer and Charlie Santen, met in a six rounds bout at Wanganui to-night, Meyer winning by two falls to one. The bout was interesting, although marked Dy spectacular punching and kicking.
The first fall came in the third round when Santen threw Meyer with a flying head scissors and applied a body press. Meyer retaliated in the fifth round with a back loop slam and a double arm lock. He secured his second fall in the following round with a body press following a dump.
The match marked the opening of the Wanganui season and was largely attended, the spectators being well pleased with the bout and four amateur matches.
