DEATH OF MR. H. LOONEY
WELL-KNOWN KORU FARMER. The sudden death of Mr. Harry Looney at the home of his brother, Mr J. Looney, New Plymouth, came as a shock to his many friends throughout Koru and the surrounding district Born at Oakura in 1875, the late Mr Looney received his early education there and when still a young man purchased a farm at Kirihau. There he stayed for some years, later acquiring the homestead of the late Mr. and Mrs Julian, Koru. Here, as a practical farmer, his experience and counsel have been at the disposal of all who sought them, while he has been in the forefront of any social activities in the district. For many years he was a member of both the Koru hall and school committees, and is remembered by all for his enthusiasm, his kindly encoui' agement and ready generosity. He leaves a widow, a son, Mr. Leo. Looney, and two daughters, the Misses Kathleen and Myrtle Looney. On Sunday last the funeral left his brother’s residence. Moturoa, the cortege of over sixty cars making its way slowly to the Waireka cemetery, where the Ven. Archdeacon Gavin conducted a brief service.
