SHARES OF RESERVE BANK

TRANSFER ON PROPER FOOTING. Mr. J. G. COATES’ STATEMENT. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, May 23. Transfers of Reserve Bank shares are likely to be put on a proper footing, according to a statement by the Minister of Finance, Mr. J. G. Coates. When interviewed here the Minister explained that before a transfer could be put through it had to be approved by the board of directors. The bank directors had been appointed only within the last few days, but it was the wish of the Government that they should meet in the near future. One of the first duties would be to make the necessary arrangements for transfers.

The Reserve B. nk will commence to function to a certain degree on August 1, ■ when it will take over the whole of the note issue of the Dominion.
