TARANAKI BOXING CONTROL

POSTPONEMENT OF TOURNAMENT. A meeting of the executive of the Taranaki Boxing Association was held last' night, when there were present Messrs. J. Garcia (chairman), J. Horlor, C. McLeod, J. M. Smith, F. Gable, C. E. Roebuck, V. S. Pruden, L. E. Sowry, Dr. J. S. Church and E. J. Carr (hon. secretary). A circular letter was received from the Wanganui Boxing Association suggesting the holding of interprovincial tournaments among Manawatu, Wanganui and Taranaki. It was also suggested that the three districts should combine with a view to forming a boxing association union to standardise various aspects of boxing. It was decided to refer the matter to the Taranaki Boxing Council, members favouring the'idea of interprovincial matches. In order to avoid clashing with the Hawera tournament, which had been postponed until May 30, the night after the proposed tournament, it was decided to postpone the tournament until June 16.
