THURSDAY DIVISIONAL RE-DRAW. On account of New Plymouth being included in the senior ladies’ hockey competition and Eltham withdrawing from the junior competition, a complete redraw of the Thursday division has been necessary. The following is the re-draw, the home team mentioned first in each case, games to be the same in the second round, except that the home ground will be reversed: — t Senior. May 17: Inglewood v. New Plymouth, Old Girls v. Kaponga, School v. Eltham (postponed). May 24: Eltham tournament. May 31: School v. Kaponga, Inglewood v. Old Girls, New Plymouth v. Eltham. June 7: Old Girls v. Old Girls. GENERAL ITEMS. Euchre Party at Huinga. The third of a series of euchre parties was held in the Huinga hall on Monday night. Prize-winners were: Ladies, Mrs. Corbett 1, Mrs. A. Marfell 2, Mrs. Wilkes consolation; men, Mr. T. Kelly 1, Mr. W. Steele 2, Mr. A. White consolation. The music for the dance which followed the euchre was played by Miss E. Wilmshurst, with extras by Mrs. Wilkes and Miss K. Yates. A Monte Carlo was won by Mr. and Mrs. A. Marfell. Mr. T. Kelly was master of ceremonies. Failure to Register Dog. Patrick Hickey, Mangamingi, was charged at the Eltham Police Court yesterday that he had failed to register a cattle dog within the prescribed period. Mr. J. L. Weir, for the County Council, said the registration was four months overdue and Hickey when requested to register the animal treated the matter as a joke. Hickey was fined 5s and 10s costs. Eltham Court Judgments. Judgment by default was given at the Eltham Magistrate’s Court yesterday in the following claims: Eltham Motors Ltd. v. F. T. Nicholson £5 16s 5d (costs £1 14s 6d); A. C. Sorensen v. Peter McDonald £ll (£2 13s). On a judgment summons Dan Toa was ordered to pay H. F. Wiley £l3 13s 4d and £1 Is costs, in default ten days’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended on payment of 20s a week.
Ladies’ Hockey at Eltham. Twenty-three ladies’ hockey teams have been entered in the Eltham club’s tournament, which will be held at Taumata Park to-morrow. This is a record number of teams and comprises entries from as far as Whangamomona. The trophy is the Gower Cup and the contest will begin at 12.30. The draw will be published to-morrow. MANGATOKI LADIES’ GOLF. DRAW FOR MAY MEDAL MATCH. Following is the draw for the Mangatoki May medal match to be played in conjunction with a match for non-han-dicap players to-day: Miss E. KIORE PERSONAL ITEMS. Mr. and Mrs. Patterson and family have returned to Kiore after a holiday. Miss Mollie Knox has returned home after staying with her sister, Mrs. O. Lofroth, Toko. Miss Lofroth has been staying with Miss Louie Knox. Mr. Kibblewhite has started his duties at the Kiore school. Misses Ngaire Knox and Joyce Kemp have returned from Mataut where they stayed with Mrs. Chapman. ADVERTISERS’ ANNOUNCEMENTS. A concert and a ■ complimentary social will be tendered Mr. and Mrs. George Smith, who are leaving the district, in the Midhirst public hall on Friday night. The Stratford Borough Council notifies by advertisement on page 3 that motor drivers’ licenses and heavy traffic licenses are ready for issue. Persons requiring licenses are asked to make early application. The Old Pupils’ Association of the Stratford High School invites all old pupils and friends to a dance in the Parish Hall to-morrow night. A fox-trot competition will be held at the Eltham Parish Hall on Thursday, June 7, at a dance organised to aid the Convent sisters. Mr. Rangi Tito will be seen in tap dance specialties.
