Now that the stress and strain of the storm of last week are over, reports a.re coming to hand of what now appear as amusing incidents. Power board employees at Paeroa report many instances of farmers milking by hand on Thursday evening, for the reason that the power was off till 3.15 p.m., and they did not trouble to ascertain after commencing milking when it came on again. In the Puriri district a fuse was blown on Thursday morning and, as everyone in the district thought someone else would report the matter, it was not till Friday afternoon that a power board employee casually heard in conversation in the street of the matter. Twc minutes’ work restored the service. The schoolmaster at Karangah ke made many trip., from the schoolhouse to the school rain gauge during Friday night in order to prevent the bottle overflowing, and in consequence he was able to record a fall of 6.49 in. of rain for the 24 hours ended at 9 a.m. on Friday morning,
