DEVILLED CHEESE SAVOURIES. Grease 8 or 9 patty tins and line with Fether-Flake rolled thinly. Put half teaspoon bloater paste or anchovy into each pastry-lined tin, then a dessertspoon of mixture given below. Bake in moderate oven for 20 minutes. Do not overcook. Filling: One dessertspoon butter, 1 dessertspoon flour, a good half breakfast cup milk, 3 tablespoons grated cheese, cayenne and a pinch of salt, 2 eggs, yolks and whites separated. Melt butter, add flour, then milk, stir until it thickens. Take off the fire, add yolks, cheese, seasoning and lastly the stiflybeaten whites. Fether-Flake is perfect puff pastry ready to bake. 9d per lb. at NEVILLE’S, successors to Adams Bruce, Ltd., New Plymouth and Hawera.
