HORSE OVERTURNS DRAY

RADNOR ROAD DISTRICT GENERAL NEWS ITEMS Mr Les. Vickers, Radnor Road, was injured on Friday morning when his horse bolted along Denmark Terrace on the way to the Midhirst factory. The horse suddenly took fright and, becoming uncontrollable, capsized the dray on a bank. Mr Vickers was thrown out and received a cut on the head above the ear, which needed medical attention. Mr Vickers was taken home, where he is progressing favourably. The horse was checked a short distance from the scene of the accident, considerable damage being done to both dray and harness. Tennis Competition. The results of combined doubles matches played at Radnor Road during the week are as follows: S. Reid and Mrs Reid defeated H. Vickers and Mrs W. Vickers 6—2, E. Fear and Miss Vickers defeated R. Vickers and J. B. Hunt 6—l, A. Mapp and Mrs Mapp defeated W. Vickers and Miss B. Hunt 6~-3, S. Reid and Mrs Reid defeated G. Vickers and Mrs Hunt 6—3, P. Anderson and Mrs Anderson defeated W. Vickers and Miss Hunt 6—4, P. Anderson and Mrs Anderson defeated H. Vickers and Mrs W. Vickers 6—5, S. Carter and Miss O. Robkes forfeited to E. Fear and Miss Vickers. . The draw is: S. Reid and Mrs Reid v. W. Robkes and Miss J. Rookes, R. Vickers and J. B. Hunt v. E. Fear and Mis§ Vickers, A. Mapp and Mrs Mapp y. S. Carter and Miss A. Robkes, H. Vickers and Mrs W. Vickers v. G. Vickers and Mrs Hunt, C. Kelly and Mrs J. Vickers V. M. AskeW and Mrs A. R. Askew. Householders’ Meeting. At the Radnor Road householders’ meeting Mr G. Vickers was elected to fill the vacancy caused by the retirement of Mr Walter Vickeys after more than 20 years’ service. Mr Vickers was chairman for 12 consecutive years. Expressions of appreciation of his services were made at the meeting and a letter of thanks will be sent to him. A meeting of the committee was held at the conclusion of the election, it being decided to hold a working bee at the school at some future date to clear up the grounds at the Back of the school and to concrete the shelter shed floor.
