FRIENDLY GAMES ON SATURDAY. COMPETITIONS ON MAY 12. A decision to postpone the opening of the A and B grade competitions a week and to play friendly games on Saturday next was made by the North Taranaki Primary Schools’ Football Association last night.. Present were Messrs. G.E. Roper (chairman), R. J. Page, R. McGregor, Cumming, P. Gardner, S. Hill, A. H. Bensley, G. Lawrence and J. W. Chapman (secretary). It was reported that there would be twelve teams in the competitions in North Taranaki, Central entering two. There was a possibility, of five teams beformed at Stratford -this, season.. . . . v lt was decided to play friendly matches on Saturday instead of competition games, in order that transport and other arrangements could be perfected. The draw was made as. follows:—. . . A grade: Fitzroy v. Vogeltown, at the racecourse, at 1.30 p.m., Mr. Cummings, West End v. Central, at West End, at 10 a.m., Mr. R. J. Page. B grade: West End v. Moturoa, at Moturoa, at 10 a.m., Mr. P. Gardner, Fitzroy v. Central, at Fitzroy, at 10 a.m., Mr. G. H. Gorringe; Convent and Westown byes. The Waitara teams will arrange friendly matches among themselves. It was denidjed that in all school games the balhshould be brought. .in nine yards for comer kicks. Coaches were made responsible for the immediate notification of the results of matches. .•:•••» ' . Mr. Cumming said his work would not allow him to .continue the coaching ,of the Fitzroy school teams. It was decided to ask Mr. Roy Clark to undertake the coaching. It was decided that home and away matches should be played- in the competitions. The following draw was made for the first competition matches on May 12:— A grade (Thomson Cup): Central v. Vogeltown, at racecourse, Mr. G. E. Roper; Waitara v. Fitzroy, at Waitara, Mr W. J. Reeves; West End a bye. B grade (Malayan Cup): Waitara V. Fitzroy, at Waitara, Mr. W. Johnstone; Central v. West End, at West End, Mr. P. Gardner; Convent v. Moturoa, at Convent, Mr. L. Shippey; Westown a bye. B grade matches will commence at 10 a.m. and A grade at 11 o’clock. The secretary reported advice from the New Zealand Football Association that it would supply ten footballs for primary schools in Taranaki. Whether the association considered the tour of Australia by primary schoolboys should be made this year, whether boys would be nominated from Taranaki, and whether the association was prepared to make a grant were questions' asked in correspondence from the New Zealand Football Association. It was decided to defer consideration of the matter. In connection with a letter from Mr. W. J. Reeves it was decided to ask the coaches to supply the names of Soccer players who had left or were about to leave primary schools, with the object of forming a junior or intermediate competition. , Consideration of the matter was held over. Cameron, J. Pickering.

Moturoa: Quinlan; Harris, Lynch; Connett, Rae, Bremner; Collins, Ramsdale, Healy, Skipper, Grange; reserves, Sanders, Morgan.
