PERSONAL AND GENERAL. Mr. J. W. H. Gardner left last week for Shannon to attend the funeral of his uncle, Mr. Tom Gardner, and is now visiting Otaki and other Manawatu towns. Miss E. Madgwick, Palmerston North, is on a holiday visit to Kaponga and is the guest of Mrs. W. Keheley. _ It is understood that r.t ;; meeting of suppliers to the Kaponga branch factory of the Mangatoki Dairy Company last week it .was decided to erect a new building in place of the one recently destroyed by fire. Messrs. T. Tobeck, -Palmerston North, and J. ■ O’Sullivan, Tongaporutu, were visitors to Kaponga at the ’..'eek-end. The closing day of the Kaponga Croquet Club was held in fire weather, and there was a good attendance of players and visitors. Results of the competitions are; Golf “A”, Mrs. A. V. Tait, “B” Mrs. J. Harper; French, Mrs. Evans; drive, Mrs. Tattersail. The president, Mrs. J. A. Dawson, presented the trophies won during the seaso... The fortnightly meeting of the Manchester Unity Loyal Kaponga Lodge wm held on Monday night, N.I. Sister H. Cleaver presiding. There was a good attendance. Bro. E. W. Snowden, the lodge’s delegate to the Past pranas Lodge at Hawera, gave a resume of the business of the meeting. A new member, Bro. Smith, was initiated into the order. A welcome was extended by Bro. R. D. Dagg. The N.G. presented recommendations to the lodge from the committee’s meeting. It was stated that arrangements were well forward for the annual ball.
