Miss Vaughan, Hastings, is the guest of her sister, Mrs G. W. Powdrell. Miss G. Goodson entertained friends at tea on Saturday afternoon.
Miss E. Stacpoole, Auckland, is Mrs J. Hawken's guest at Mokoia. Mrs R. S. Hay bittie was a visitor to Wanganui for the air pageant. Mrs A. F. Beck and family left on Monday for Auckland, where they will be the guests of Mrs Beck’s mother, Mrs Lovelock, for several weeks.
Mrs J. Ogle was a visitor to New Plymouth during the week-end.
Miss Edgerley, Auckland, who has been visiting Mrs J. Findlater, returned last week.
Mrs R. J. O'Dea was hostess at tea on Thursday afternoon. Mrs J.. B. Rowe was hostess at an afternoon on Tuesday. Wearing a navy blue silk crepe frock figured in a pink and fuschia pattern, she received several young friends, among whom were Mesdames W. FendaN, J. Sutton, and Misses M. Washer, E. Buist, P. Lovell, C. Tonks, A. Kidd (Auckland), A. Kemp and K. Coleman. Large bowls of pink zinnias, dahlias, and blue lace flowers made attractive decorations.
Wearing a smart model gown in black lace and georgette, Mrs J. Ogle entertained friends on Tuesday _ evening. Dancing, games and competitions were enjoyed. The competition winners were Mrs. C. Whittington and Mrs H. Jenkins. Among those present were Mesdames R. Gosnell, A. Harrop, R. S. Allwright, N. F. Stead, L. H. Giblin, Jenkins, L. B. Lewis, and C. Whittington. Miss C. Tonks was ’hostess at bridge on Tuesday evening. Miss Joyce Powdrell has returned from a visit to Wellington. Mrs Minhinnick, who was Mrs F. B. Wyld’s guest, has returned to Auckland. Miss N. Bissett, Russell, is visiting friends at Hawera. Mrs J. B. Murdoch was hostess at tea on Thursday afternoon, receiving her guests in a black frock smartly finished in a novelty red and white silk check. Miss E. Murdoch wore a maize patterned pique voile frock trimmed with apricot organdie. Bronze chrysanthemums were the flowers chosen for decoration. Mesdames W. McL’Dowie, W. Jobson, C. H. Washer, H. M. Caselberg and Miss L. Hay-Mackenzie, A. Cameron and J. MacDonald were among those present. Mrs J. Sutton was hostess at tea during the week. On Monday evening Miss M. Washer entertained friends at bridge, Mesdames H. H. Bramwell, N. Douglas (Stratford), and Misses J. Powdrell, K. Coleman and M. Hawken being among the players. The hostess wore a mauve silk voile frock with deep violet sash. Mrs Janson, who was Mrs Powdrell’s guest for a'Tew days, left for the South last week-end. Miss Young has left on a visit to Wellington. Miss M. Bright returnee from Wanganui last week-end. Miss D. Corrigan left yesterday on a short visit to Christchurch. Miss Jessie Joyce, Okaiawa, who is visiting Auckland and the Waikato, is expected home next week. Musical Evening. The musical circle of the •Women’s Club held a successful evening on Tuesday, the programme being arranged by Mrs A. M. Young. The club orchestra, consisting of seven players, rendered several pleasing selections and enjoyable items were contributed by Mesdames G. A. Duncan and A. Corrigan, pianoforte duets; Miss C. Reilly and Miss E. Twaddle, songs, and Misses A. McLaren and Miss M. Mackie, Otakeho, piano solos. Mrs Young played the accompaniments. Among those present were the president, Mrs W. A. O’Callaghan, the circle convener, Miss Reilly, Mesdames W. G. Simpson, A. M. Young, J. S. Young, H. G. Whitehead, C. Bayley, H. M. Caselberg, H. McWilliam, Mackie (Otakeho), R. Jones, W. Jobson, A. Evans, G. A. Burgess, G. H. Buckeridge, E. Evans, W. Adams, Fairhall, J. M. Collins, A. Corrigan, Anderson, A. K. Fyson, Giblin, Graham, S. A. Chisholm, G. A. Duncan and Misses Buchanan, B. Young, B.
