PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES. There was a large attendance at the Okaiawa Tennis Club’s ball on Monday, neighbouring clubs being well represented. The hall was decorated with multi-coloured streamers, the work of the committee. Mr. J. C. Barclay presented the trophies to the following: A grade men’s handicap singles, Mr. H. Evetts; A grade ladies’, Miss Delia Good; B grade men, Mr. T. Houlahan; B grade button competition, Miss B. Evetts. Supper was served by the committee. Messrs. W. Martin, D. Johnston and F. Tilly were masters of ceremonies. Among those present were Misses P. Brough, New Plymouth, (black velvet and sequins), Delia Good (lemon satin), D. Hemsley (floral voile), D. Robertson (blue satin), R. Williams (green satin), Elsie Ward (green floral voile), Mary Lindsay (pink floral organdie), Audrey Betts (green ring velvet), D. Corbett (white satin and flame), E. Hay (red satin), A. Collins (pique voile), S. Gatenby, Matapu (plaid organdie), Mrs. L. R. Pease (wine satin and coatee), Mrs. H Linn (black satin), Mrs. Martin, (green satin), Mrs. M. Clarke (black satin), V. Ward (green silk crepe and cape), H. Giddy (blue silk crepe and cape), E. Tapp (ivory satin), M. Guy (ivory georgette and lace), D. Crosbie (black crepe de chene), I. Crosbie (black georgette), J. Murdoch (floral voile), A. Keighley (pink satin). General Items. The Okaiawa Croquet Club s closing day was held on Friday last. The large attendance of members spent the afternoon in competitions. Trophies won during the year were presented by Mr. J. E. Meuli as follows: Club championship, Mrs. A. Ward; Barclay trophy, Mrs. R. Shearer; Meuli trophy, Miss Edna Washer; A button, Mrs. A. Ward; B button, Mrs. S. Thrush; C button, Mrs. T. Joyce. Golf and French croquet were played, the respective winners being Mrs. W. Baker and Mrs. W. G. Williams. Anglican Guild Meeting. The monthly meeting of the Anglican guild was held at the residence of Mrs. J. C. Barclay on Tuesday afternoon. Those present were the Rev. and Mrs. C. W. Solomon, Mesdames D. Edwards, E J. Mortimer, A. Ward, R. Shearer, H. Retter, N. Crocker, J. E. Johnstone and L. Houlahan. School Honours Anzac. The Anzac anniversary was marked at the Patea school by a service in the assembly hall and an address on the work of the wireless units in Meso-

potamia by Mr. G. R. Taylor. A wreath was placed on the photograph of Lieut. Robbie, a former headmaster who ,was killed in action. The children placed wreaths on the memorial gates, where the Last Post was sounded by Mr. Bob Willis. Personal. Mr. R. Harsant, of the Patea post office staff, has left on transfer to Waipawa. Prior to his departure he was with a golf club by the postmaster, Mr. G. R. Taylor, as a token of the staff’s esteem. Mr. C. Gamer, Wanganui, has replaced Mr. Harsant. Mr. and Mrs. A. Hayward, Hawera, left yesterday. for an extended holiday at Auckland.
