AMERICAN NAVY BUILDING

> NINETY-FIVE SHIPS NEEDED. CONSTRUCTION TO TREATY LIMIT. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 10.25 p.m. Washington, April 25. Within four months the United States Government expects to start the building of 20 of the 95 ships needed to bring the United States Navy up to the treaty limits. The President let it be known on Wednesday that the billion dollar appropriation Bill he will submit to Congress shortly will provide the money for the initial construction in the treaty navy programme. That Bill, said the chairman of the House Naval Committee, Mr. Carl Vinson, will carry about forty million dollars for the first year’s work on six submarines of 1300 tons each, 12 destroyers of 1500 tons and two destroyer leaders of 1850 tons.
