HEADMASTER CENSURED

MEETING OF ARANUI RESIDENTS. SCHOOL NOT CLOSED FOR’ PICNIC. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, April 17. The meetings of householders in the Christchurch school districts passed off without incident except at Aranui, where adverse comment was freely expressed because the headmaster was not present, nor did he forward a report. He was criticised further for not closing the school for the annual picnic, although no children attended classes, the teachers being the sole occupants of the rooms that day. Motions were carried deploring his absence from the meeting and recording the householders’ censure. There -was one dissentient, who declared they were “a bit tough on the headmaster.” At the same time it was remarked by the chairman that with 100 per cent, proficiency passes there was nothing to worry about in the teaching of the school. Eighty people attended the meeting. .
