A farewell social for Mrs. A. Grant and Miss Joan Grant was given by the choir of the Anglican Church at the vicarage last night, when the time was spent in music, games and competitions.
Mrs. Torrens entertained at an afternoon for Mrs. A. Grant on Wednesday. Mrs. and Miss Frost, who have been the guests of Mrs. E. O’Neill, have returned to Waitara.
Mrs. Grant was a bridge hostess on Monday evening. Miss Cynthia Partridge is spending the week-end at New Plymouth. Miss Mary McLean has returned from Wellington. Mrs. Victor and Miss Audrey Dimock, Titahi Bay, who motored to Hamilton, were visitors to Mrs. Adnams, Norfolk Road, last week. Mrs. Kaye, Durham Road, visited Motonui, Opunake and Upper Mangorei Women’s Institutes and gave addresses
Mesdames Lowden and Kohn have returned from Tongaporutu. Miss L. Rothwell, Whatawhata, Waikato, was the guest of Miss E. Schicker, Dudley Road, for the naval ball. Mrs. A. Kennedy returned last weekend from a holiday at Te Aroha Mrs. J. Burgess, Durham Road, who visited New Plymouth for Easter, is spending a few days with her sister, Mrs. Cartwright, Lepperton. A party was given by Mrs. lan Grant for Mrs. A. Grant on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Grant will shortly leaye for Ashburton.
Mrs. Adnams, president of the Women’s hxtitute, was a guest at the Tikorangi Women’s Institute birthday party on Wednesday' afternoon. Miss Trimble left on Monday for a. holiday at "Auckland. Miss McPhail, who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. McGowan, has returned to Auckland. Mrs. H. Julian has returned from a motor tour of the North Island.
Miss Joan Cowie-Wilson, Auckland, is staying at the Inglewood Hotel. Mrs. Bracken, Wanganui, and Miss D. Charters, New Plymouth, who have been the guests of Mrs. W. Brown, Durham Road, have returned to their homes.
/Mrs. Kaye, president of the Taranaki Federation of Women’s Institutes, took a car-load of members to the Tikorangi birthday party this week. Those accompanying Mrs. Kaye were Mesdames Reardon, George, Ward and Fabish. Mrs. Dean, Dudley Road, entertained friends on Thursday afternoon.
Mrs. D. McAlister has returned after a holiday at Wellington. • ' Mrs. R. B. Young is spending a few days at New Plymouth. Miss Joan Franklyn has returned from Wellington. The Misses Sutton, Hastings, are visiting Mrs. R. Sutton. Miss Penny, Wanganui, is the guest of Mrs. J. Winfield.
Miss J. Petch is visiting Mrs. Armstrong, Mrs. A. Cattle will return from. Marton to-day. Mesdames Braybrooke, Beadle and Keenan visited Mrs. Gilliver, Hawera, this week. Miss Nellie Wilson has returned, from Wellington. Miss P. McCluggage, Kaimata, was the guest of Miss K. Coles during the teachers’ refresher course.
Miss Nellie Longbottom entertained at a party on Friday evening for Miss Cynthia Partridge, who will leave shortly for a holiday in Australia. Mrs. O’Carroll entertained at bridge on Thursday evening for Mrs. Pumfrey, Brisbane.
Miss Leech spent last week-end at New Plymouth. Members of the Inglewood branch of the Mothers’ Union attended a chain of special intercession services held at St. Andrew’s Church on Tuesday. Mrs. Blight, whose husband, the Rev. Blight, is taking over the ministry of the Methodist Church, arrived yesterday from Auckland. Miss McKie, Tamaki, Auckland, is visiting Mrs. F. Brown.
