SUPPORT FOR HER PARENTS

ACTRESS ORDERED TO CONTRIBUTE. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. New York, April 10. The Hollywood Court ordered the film actress Mary Astor to pay her parents £2O a month, pending the completion of a suit for support. Mary Astor contended that she had contributed support, but her parents insisted on being maintained at £40,000. She became annoyed when they mortgaged the house for £3OO to construct a swimming pool. Mary Astor was ordered, under a Superior Court writ, to explain why she did not support her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Langhanke. The father declared that he and his wife were in financial distress, and were about to lose their home. He said that he fostered his daughter’s career. Miss Astor declared herself to be “heartbroken” over the charge. She insisted that she had adequately provided for them, but her father's investments and extravagant living had swept away £BO,OOO.
