SIDESHOWMAN CONVICTED

CONTROLLING LEGISLATION URGED PROMOTED ILLEGAL WRESTLING. By Telegraph—Press Association. Hamilton, March 28. The need for legislation to ensure better control of sideshows so that a sense of public decency would be respected was emphasised by S. L. Patterson, S.M., in the Hamilton Court to-day in a case in which two sideshowmen were prosecuted for promoting an illegal wrestling bout. In evidence it was stated that portion of the programme consisted of a wrestling bout between men and a woman, and a show was also staged for men only, in which a scantily-dressed woman adopted various poses. Convictions were entered.
