YOUNG WOMEN’S CAMP
GATHERING AT FITZROY SCHOOL. METHODIST BIBLE CLASSES. The annual camp of the northern district of the Taranaki-Wanganui Methodist Young Women’s Bible Class Union was commenced at the Fitzroy Public School on Thursday evening and will be concluded on Tuesday morning. Fiftyone girls are taking part. On Thursday evening the following officers were introduced to, the campers by the chief officer (Mrs. J. D. Grocott, Fitzroy):—Camp mother, Mrs. A. Penn, Opunake; camp auntie, Mrs. J. Aburn, Fitzroy; leader of leaders’ circle, Miss D. Bennett, New Plymouth; camp secretary, Miss N. Treeby, Fitzroy; sports captain, Miss B. Dean, Omona; camp cook, Mrs. Morris, Fitzroy. Before breakfast yesterday morning the girls were led in physical exercises by the sports captain and Mrs. Ahum conducted morning prayer ,in the openi air. The morning was mainly spent in study circles, and in the afternoon the visitors to New Plymouth were taken for a walk in Pukekura Park and Brooklands. The Revs. F. Copeland and W. J. Henderson visited the camp at tea-time, when they acknowledged a welcome. The evening was occupied by intercessions and an address by Mrs. Grocott. This morning inter-Bible class sports for the union shield will be held in the school grounds, and this evening the Waitara Bible class will stage a sacred play. Church parades will be held at the Fitzroy Methodist Church to-morrow morning and at Whiteley Memorial Church in the evening. Some of the campers will assist at the morning service. At 2.30 p.m. to-morrow an official welcome to the visitors will take place."
