WAREA SCHOOL SPORTS

EVENTS FOR SMITH CUPS DECIDED. The annual school sports competitions for the Herbert Smith Trust Cups were decided at the Warea Domain on Friday. The weather was ideal. There was a good attendance of parents and friends of the pupils. The senior boys division for a Smith cup- was won by Owen Sole, who scored 19 points out of the possible 21 points. Vivian Petch, 15 points, was second, and received a medal. The senior girls’ division, also for a Smith cup, was won by Joan Wolstenholme, 16| points out of a possible 25. Violet Pakipaki was second with 16 points. In the junior division medals were presented to the winners and runners-up. In the boys’ division, Ben Pakipaki and Walter Wol-. stenholme scored 12 points each, the possible, but a run-off over 50 yards resulted in a win for B. Pakipaki. June Magon, 11 points, was winner of the girls’ division and Joan Longley was second. The medals were presented by the school committee. Mr. Wells congratulated the club on its first year’s record. He said that there had been’ much interest shown ,m the club and there had been a good attendance at matches.
