AIR FORCE BASE POLICY

REPLY TO BLENHEIM STATEMENT. WORK ON THE PRESENT BASES. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Replying to the Marlborough Progress League regarding the suitability of Blenheim as an Air Force base the Minister of Defence, the Hon. J. G. Cobbe, stated that the necessity for a further Air Force base was not yet apparent, and therefore no definite consideration had been given the matter. The Minister added that attention was being directed by the Government towards developing the existing Air Force bases at Hobsonville, near Auckland, and Wigram, near Christchurch, and no occasion had yet arisen to make it necessary for the provision of a third Air Force base.
