ACTIVITY IN SPORTS, There was a good attendance .at the fortnightly meeting of the Tainui Amateur Athletic Club held at Mokau on Saturday. Results of the. two mam cycling events were: Senior race, 14 miles: H. Bryant, scr, 1, time 38m 255, P. Sheen Im 2, time 38m 335; N. Clifton, scr, 3. Junior race, 3J miles: A. Pratt, ' 90s, 1, time 12m 265; N. Bishell, 30s, 2, time 11m 365; R. Sullivan, 60s, 3. Continuing the tennis matches for the Ferguson Cup on March 10, Tainui defeated Mbkau by 12 games to 7. In. the following results the names of the .Tainui players are given first:— Men’s singles: A. Bartlett beat Mita 9-3, A. C. Richards lost.to C. Hepbum 3—9, J. Waters beat N. Clifton 9-6, K. Bryant beat P. Sheen 9— l, D. Montgomerie lost to R. Whitehead 2-9, H. Bryant beat A. Ericksen 9—7. Ladies’ singles: Miss M. Bartlett beat Mrs. J. Beattie 7—l, Mrs. May beat Mrs. Black 7-1, Miss M. Cowper lost to Mrs. E. Gough 2-7, Mis L. Bartlett beat Mrs. F. Northern 7—l. . Men’s doubles: Richards and Bartlett lost to Mita and Hepburn B—9, K. Bryant and J. Waters lost to Clifton and Whitehead 6—9, D. Montgomerie and H. Bryant lost to P. Sheen and A. Ericksen 7.- ■ ■ Ladies’ doubles: Miss M. Bartlet and Miss Cowper beat Mrs. Beattie and Mrs. Gough 7—3, Mrs. May and Miss L. Bartlett beat Mrs. Black and Mrs. Northern 7—4; ■ ■ Combined doubles: Miss M. Bartlett and L.
