HARVEST THANKSGIVING

SALVATION ARMY SALE OF GIFTS. To open its . harvest thanksgiving festival celebrations the New Plymouth Salvation Army held a concert and sale of gifts at the Citadel on Monday night. Members of the Whiteley Memorial Church choir provided the musical part of the programme and Captain Chandler conducted the sale. There was a large attendance. Many gifts of produce were received and were attractively displayed. The hall was tastefully decorated with autumn -flowers and foliage. In the absence of Mr.' R. Laurie Cooper Mr. Gatland conducted the choir. The following programme was presented: “Hail Smiling MOrn,” the choir; solo, “Beware,” Miss Q. Ramshaw; anthem, “Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem,” the choir; solos, “Changing of the Guard” and “Trees,” Mr. L. Kerr; anthem, “Holy art Thou,” choir; solo, Mrs. Bird; anthems, “AngeluS” and ‘‘Hail to the Chief,” the choir; solO, “Anchored,” Mr. W. G. Aked; anthem, “All Thy Works Shall Praise Thee,” the choir; solos, “Fishermen of England” and “Invictus,” Mr. L. Kerr; parb-song, “Moonlight”; solo, “String of Pearls,” Miss Q. Ramshaw; anthem, ‘‘Let the People Praise Thee,” the choir.
