WELCOME TO MINISTER

REV. G. GOULD, FITZROY. GOOD ATTENDANCE OF PARISH. A congregational welcome was given the Rev. G. Gould, formerly of Napier, who has been inducted into the charge of Knox Presbyterian Church, Fitzroy, at the church last evening. The function was very well attended. The Rev. J. McGregor (Stratford), Moderator, extended a welcome to Mr. Gould on behalf of the Presbytery. The Rev. J. D. Grocott, of the New Plymouth Wesleyan congregation, welcomed Mr. Gould on behalf of the Ministers’ Association, while good wishes and greetings were also extended by Miss E. Dowling on behalf of the choir, Mr. Pettie for the congregation, Mr. Prentice, the Sunday school and Mr. Langshear on behalf of the Bible classes. An enjoyable programme was given as follows: Orchestral, the St. Andrew’s orchestra; songs, Miss F. Bamforth and Mr. S. Baird; elocutionary, Mrs. Kircher with Mrs. B. B. Weller at the piano; pianoforte solo, Miss Agnes Aburn; violin solos, Miss E. Dowling and Mr. John Abum. Mrs. Weller and Miss Bamforth played the accompaniments. Supper was provided by the ladies’ guild of the church and served by a committee. Apologies for unavoidable non-attendance* were received from the Rev. F. Copeland, the Rev. J. D. McL. Wilson and the Rev. S. Jenkins.
