KORITO SCHOOL PICNIC
GATHERING AT KAWAROA PARK. RACES FOR THE CHILDREN. The annual picnic of the Korito school was held at Kawaroa Park on Thursday. The weather was fine and warm and almost every family from the district attended, the children being conveyed to the park in cars. An hour was spent at the swimming baths and later a programme of sports took place. Fruit, sweets and prizes were provided by the committee. The results of the races were: Girls: Over 12, Doris Weston 1, Monica Miller 2; over 10, Betty Weston 1, Maisie May 2, Peggy Baker 3; over 8, Patsy Miller 1, Betty Baker and Rae Hine equal 2, Doreen May 3; primer classes, Eva May 1, Rene Smith 2, Jean Herbert 3. Boys: Over 12, Monte Woodward 1, Oakes Smith 2; over 9, Hugh Peters 1, Don Woodward and Bruce Smith equal 2, David Hine 3; over 6, Jimmy Herbert 1, Martin Molloy 2, Tommy Herbert 3. Skipping: Girls over 10, Betty Weston 1, Jean Hine 2, Iris Herbert 3; girls under 10, Mabel Nielsen 1, Patsy Miller 2, Rene Smith 3. Three-legged: Girls, Betty Weston and Jean Hine 1, Monica Miller and Doris Weston 2, Iris Herbert and Peggy Baker 3; boys, Hugh Peters and David Hine 1. Sack races: Girls over 10, Iris Herbert 1, Jean Hine 2, Monica Miller 3; girls under 10, Patsy Miller 1, Rae Hine 2; boys, Bruce Smith 1, Oakes Smith 2, Monte Woodward 3; tiny tots, girls, Wray Miller 1, Connie Herbert 2, Mary Hine 3; boys, Jimmy Peters 1, George- Swan 2, Harold Nielsen and Robbie Molloy equal 3. Single ladies’ race: Miss Loma Ashman. Married ladies’ race: Mrs. C. Keast and Mrs. V. Hine equal. Single men’s race: John Keast Married men’s race: Mr. A. Miller.
