DAY FOR MAKAKA CHILDREN
RESULTS AT THE SCHOOL PICNIC. The Makaka school picnic was held last Friday at Taumata Park, Eltham. The pupils with their teacher and parents motored to the park early in the morning. A series of sports events resulted as follows: Girls’ open race, June Lind 1, Betty Maindonald 2, Audrey Cassidy _ 3; boys’ open race, Dick Pope 1, Tom Maindonald 2, Bill Doherty 3; mixed girls’ and boys’ handicap, John Doherty 1, Audrey Cassidy 2, Dick Pope 3; combination race, June Lind and Dick Pope 1, Tom Maindonald and Peter Cassidy 2, Jo Im Doherty and Tommy Moreland 3; bunnies race,. Dick Pope 1, Tom Maindonald 2, Audrey Cassidy .3; jockeys’ and horses’, race, Tom Maindonald and Peter Cassidy 1, Audrey Cassidy and June Lind 2, Sybil Cuff and John Doherty 3; mounted jockies, Sybil Cuff and June Lind 1, Tom Maindonald and Dick Pope 2, Peter and Audrey Cassidy 3; relay race, Joe Duckett’s team and Jean Cuff’s team 1 equal.
