PUNGAREHU BEATS RAHOTU

LADIES’ TENNIS MATCH PLAYED. A ladies' tennis team from Rahotu visited Pungarehu on Wednesday afternoon and played a friendly match. The visitors were defeated by seven sets to two. Rahotu is only a young club having been formed only this season and its performance against more experienced opponents was very creditable. Results, Rahotu names being mentioned first, were./--Singles: Miss R. Hodson lost to Miss C. Brophy 2—6, Miss D. Lowry lost to Miss L Gray 2—6, Miss M. Robertson lost to Miss M. Brophy 3-6, Miss P. Murray beat Mrs. J. Priest 6—3, Mrs. Looney lost to Miss P. Brennan 3—6, Miss K. Neilson beat Miss M. Simmons 6--2. Doubles: Misses R. Hodson and D. Lowry lost to Misses C. Brophy and I. Grey 0-6, Misses P .Murray and M. Robertson lost to Mrs. E. Gray and Miss M. Brophy 2-6, Mrs. Looney and Miss K. Neilson lost to-Mrs. J. Priest and Miss P. Brennan 5—6. Totals: Rahotu, two sets, 29 games; Pungarehu, seven sets, 47 games.
