Mrs. L. B. Lewis returns during the week-end after a visit to Wellington. Mrs. Mann, Sydney, has been the guest of her sister, Mrs. Meredith. Mrs. Dix, Wanganui, has been visiting her sister, Mrs. Meredith. Miss Anne Bright returned to Nga Tawa early in the week. Miss Alison Kemp returned on Wednesday .from Wellington, where she had been spending a fortnight with friends. Mrs. Wright, Raetihi, and Miss E. Rawson, New Plymouth, are staying with Mrs. and Miss Ginger, Cameron Street. Mr. and Mrs. Duncan McKenzie, Mount Nicholas, Queenstown, are Mrs. T. F. McKenzie’s guests. Mrs. John Ogle is spending a few days with her mother, Mrs. Richards, New Plymouth. M>rs Reed, Dunedin, who has been Mrs. John Houston’s guest for the past few weeks, left for New Plymouth on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Ashby, Palmerston North, who have been Mrs. W. G. Simpson’s guests for the past week, after spending a vacation at New Plymouth left yesterday on their return home. Misses Muriel Strange and Ethel Murdoch left by car on Monday and will spend three weeks’ holiday on a tour of the north, including Tauranga and Rotorua. Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Robb and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Harrop have left on a motor camping holiday to be spent round the shores of Lake Tauranga. Mr and Mrs. E. M. Bardsley, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Bardsley, Dunedin, who are their guests, paid a visit to Palmerston North during the week. The seventh annual tournament of the South Taranaki Croquet Association commences at the Hawera lawns on Monday morning, and many visiting players, are expected. The president, Mrs. A. V. Tait, Kaponga, will open the tourney. Mrs. H. T. Lovell was hostess at a dinner and afterwards an evening party on Wednesday in honour of her aunt, Miss S. Ginger’s, 95th birthday. The gathering was a very happy orie, almost taking the form of a family re-union. The hostess wore a smart navy angel-skm lace frock, while the guest of honour, Miss Ginger, wore a gown of black crepe-de-chine, with light touches of cream and black coatee. Among those present were Mrs. Ginger, the guest of honour’s sis-ter-in-law, Mesdames Wright (Raetihi), Magnay and Miss E. Rawson (New Fly* mouth), nieces, Mrs. C. Honeyfield and Miss Rosalind Honeyfield (Patea), and Misses Sheila and Pat Lovell.
