OVERSEAS PASSAGES LTD

ECHO OF CASE AT HAMILTON. BROWNRIGG’S FALSE PRETENCE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Hamilton, Last Night. An echo of the Overseas Passages Limited case was heard at the Hamilton Magistrate’s Court to-day, when Harold Bradley Brownrigg, who is at present serving a sentence, was committed to the Supreme Court at Auckland for sentence on charges of false pretences. 'The evidence that Brownrigg advertised for a young man willing to invest £2OO in a flourishing business and to be employed at £3 weekly. Douglas Charles Stewart, Presbyterian minister, answered the advertisement and, satisfied with the credentials of Brownrigg, placed his son in his employ and handed over £5O and £l5O on different occasions as agreed upon. The business later proved to be a bogus one. Brownrigg pleaded guilty to both charges.
