WATER-POLO COMPETITION

INGLEOOD MEN BEAT STRATFORD. STRATFORD WINS GARTH MATCH. The final match in the southern division first round of the Daglesish Cup water polo competition was played at Inglewood on Tuesday evening when the Inglewood seniors defeated Stratford by six goals to nil. The Stratford ladies’ team defeated Inglewood by four goals to two in a Garth Cup match.

The men’s teams were:—lnglewood: W. Yeates, R. Crossman, M. Lindsay, L. Kay, B. Crossan, N. Crossman, C. Me Kay and C. Evans. Stratford: H. Smart, F. Wickham, S. Philipi, H. Carlyle, R. Girling, Anderson. The water was very cold and Stratford was unfortunate for both Smart and Anderson had to leave the water because of the cold. Inglewood played well and held a distinct advantage.

The ladies’ teams were:—lnglewood: Misses D. Alleman, C. Devereux, C. Alleman, M. Codd, J. Alleman, L. Sutton and N. Corcross. Stratford: Misses G. Hale, C. Whittleston, C. Wickham, L. Wickham, R. Voght, R. Black and G. Brown.

It was an interesting match, both teams playing good polo, especially the Stratford forwards and centre half. Goals for Stratford were scored by Misses R. Voght and R. Black and G. Brown (2), and for Inglewood by Misses J. Alleman and M. Codd.
