CHEAPER HOUSING SCHEME
BUILDING SOCIETIES ASSIST. WIDE OPERATIONS IN BRITAIN. British Official Wireless. Rec. 5.5 p.m. Rugby, Jan. 25. Since the war building societies of Britain have advanced £720,000,000, and about half of the two million houses erected in that period have received financial assistance from them. The building societies have now promised cooperation in a scheme designed to facilitate the building of houses for letting to lower paid wage earners.
