SELLING EGGS BY WEIGHT
POULTRYMEN’S CONFERENCE. PENALTIES FOR POULTRY THEFTS. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The poultrymen’s conference decided to-day that the executive should confer with the poultry board in preparing regulations for the sale of eggs under the Poultry Act of 1924. It resolved that the feasibility of selling eggs by weight instead of by the dozen should be given fullest possible consideration. It was decided to bring the matter of penalties for thefts of poultry , under the notice of the Minister of Justice, the penalties being considered inadequate. Officers elected were: President, Mr. A. J. Maclaine; vice-presidents, Mr. W. Turner; secretary and treasurer, Mr. J. N. McLean; executive committee, Messrs. A. J. Maclaine, J. C. Nesfield (Auckland), W. Turner (Canterbury and Westland) and G. McLatchie (Otago and Southland); deputations committee, Messrs. Maclaine, A. G. Mumby, A. E. Salisbury and the secretary; auditor, Mr. F. E. Feist
