50 PER CENT. INCREASE
OKAU SHEEP FAIR PRICES. FIRST COUNTRY SALE FOR 1934. Prices that were nearly 50 per cent, ahead of last year were obtained yesterday at the Okau sheep fair, the - first back-country fair of the season in North Taranaki, There was a heavy yarding of about 3000 sheep, all of which were sold under the hammer. Mixed sex Jambs sold at 18s, against an average price 6f Ils 7d a year ago. The following were prices realised: Shorn ewe lambs 18s 7d to 19s Id, shorn wether lambs 15s Id to 18s 2d, five-year-old ewes 17s 6d to 18s 7d, five and sixyear ewes 16s 6d to 17s 6d, store wethers, two and four-tooth 21s to 235, fat wethers 24s 6d. . The Farmers’ Co-operative Organisation Society of New Zealand Limited conducted the sale.
