OVERCAST WEATHER

STRONG NORTH-WESTERLY WIND. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The weather will be mainly fair to cloudy in eastern districts from Canterbury northwards and elsewhere cloudy to overcast, with some rain. Thunder is likely in places, and some hail in the far south. Temperatures will gradually become cooler. An anti-cyclone is still centred to the north of New Zealand, while the first part of a deep westerly depression has crossed the southern portion of the South Island. Strong north-westerly to westerly winds to gales are probable, backing to southerlies later in the southern portion of the South Island. Seas will be moderate on most of the east coast and elsewhere rather rough to rough.
