TOUR BY SCHOOLBOYS

PARTY FOR AUSTRALIA. MONTH’S TRAVEL FOR £33. There will be about 40 in the party of secondary schoolboys who will leave New Zealand on December 30 for a tour of Australia. The trip is being organised by Mr. T. A. Lappin, a member of the staff of King’s College, who arranged tours in 1931 and 1932. Besides 37 boys, ranging from, 16 to 19 years, including 15 from Kings College, Mr. A. H. Hunt, housemaster of Parnell House at" the college, will make the month’s tour. The total cost will be £33 for each person. Other schools represented are Christ’s College, St. Andrew’s College and the Technical College, Christchurch, Nelson College, New Plymouth Boys’ High School, Tauranga High School, Hamilton High School and Hamilton Technical College. The party will leave Auckland by the Monowai on December 30 and return to Wellington 6y the Marama on January 29. Visits will be made to Sydney and Melbourne, where the boys will be received by the Lord Mayors, Canberra, Newcastle and the Blue Mountains. In Sydney the boys will live at Manly for 12 days, surfing in ‘ the mornings and inspecting industries in tire afternoons. A proposed schoolboys’ tour of the British Isles, which was to be commenced in April, has been postponed for a year to give longer time to make arrangements.
