ILLEGAL LIQUOR SALES
HEAVY FINES AT OHAKUNE.
SEVERAL PERSONS CONVICTED.

In the Ohakune Magistrate’s Court today before Mr. R. M. Watson, S.M., Robert Sugden, Ohakune Junction, pleaded guilty to keeping whisky for illegal sale and selling whisky. He was fined £5O, with cost £1 19s 4d. On a second charge he was convicted and ordered to pay costs £1 0s 6d. The liquor was confiscated. Default was fixed at three months’ imprisonment in the Auckland gaol. William Jones (Rangataua) was fined £2O for keeping home brew for sale, with costs £1 19s 4d. On a charge of selling home brew he was convicted and ordered to pay costs £1 0s 6d. Albert White (Rangataua) was fined £3O for keeping home brew for sale, with costs £1 19s 4d. On a charge of selling home brew he was convicted and ordered to pay costs £1 0s 6d. D. M. Murphy (Ohakune) was fined £3O for selling home brew (costs £1 19s 4d); J. H, Thomas (Ohakune Junction) was fined £3O for selling home brew (costs £1 19s 4d) and E. M. Thomas (Ohakune Junction) was fined £5 for selling home brew (costs £1 19s 4d).
