LYNCHING IN TENNESSEE

YOUTH HANGED AFTER ACQUITTAL COUNTRYSIDE NOT AROUSED. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Rec. 7 p.m. New York, Dec. 16. A negro youth, Cord Check, was •lynched to-day at Columbia (Tennessee) after being discharged by the grand jury on a charge of attacking a young white girl. The body was found hanged to a tree. Officials knew nothing of the lynching until notified afterwards by telephone. Apparently a small band executed the hanging without bothering to arouse the countryside.
