PRIMARY SCHOOL CRICKET

NOIRTH VERSUS SOUTH MATCH DECISIVE VICTORY FOR NORTH. HIGH STANDARD OF FIELDING. Under a bright and sunny sky and on a perfect wicket, the primary school representative cricket match between North and South Taranaki was keenly contested on Pukekura Park, New Plymouth, yesterday before a number of interested spectators. Although North was definitely superior in batting and bowling strength the South fielding never slackened. Two brilliant one-handed catches in slips by Hill, two high catches by Duncan in the deep field, as well as the backing up of Marsden and keen fielding and a great leg catch by Diprose, all in the North team, and a display of smart wic-ket-keeping for South by Death, who at times shaped like a veteran, and two smart point catches by Hazeltine caused cricketing enthusiasts watching to pass many complimentary remarks orj the day’s play. The game resulted in a decisive victory for North by 112 runs. « Details are:— NORTH TARANAKI. First Innings. K Hellier, c Weedon, b Humphrey 6 K. Bigwood, c Hazeltine, b Humphrey 1 M..
