Mrs M- Crawford, who has been visiting her mother, Mrs. Bremer, Whenuakura, has returned to Hamilton. Mrs. FuUarton and Mrs. Haydon are spending a holiday at Havelock North. ‘ Miss Agnes Kuhfuss entertained the Patea Brownie pack at a picnic at her home last week.
Miss Westwood, Wanganui, has been appointed to the staff of the Patea Farmers’ Freezing Company.
Mrs. W. McPhee, who has been visiting her mother, Mrs. I. Nansett, has returned to Wellington.
Miss Jean Laurenson is the, guest of Mrs. J. Watt, Kakaramea.
Mrs. W. Stoddart, who has been visiting her mother, Mrs. E. Papps, has returned to Wanganui.
Mrs. W. H. Walton entertained members of ths St. George’s ladies’ guild at the Vicarage during the week. Miss Josephine Nansett returned yesterday.
Mrs. A. Thompson, Manutahi, who has been the guest of Mrs. Barker, Awakino, has returned. Miss Naismith, who is visiting the Dominion from England, is expected at Fatea this week-end, when she will visit Mr. F. Naismith, Rutland Street. Mrs. T. Nelson senr. and her daughter have returned from Hawera and are the guests of Mrs. T. Nelson.
Mrs- G. Nightingale is expected home from Wellington during the week-end. She has been the guest of Mrs. Glensor.
Nurse Gibb has returned from her annual leave spent with her parents at Thames.
Miss Harris has returned from a holiday in the Auckland district and resumed her duties at the Patea hospital. Miss Crabb and Miss Carson, who have been staying with Mrs. Lester, Warwick Street, have returned to Massey College, Palmerston North. Miss Simmons is the guest of Mrs. Purvis Bremer, Waverley. Mrs. M. Bremer has recovered sufficiently to be discharged from the Patea hospital and has returned to her home at Whenuakura.
Mrs. Pilcher is visiting Patea from Otaki and is the guest of Mrs. W. Lester.
There was a large attendance at the Patea Women’s Institute meeting yesterday, which took the form of a social afternoon. There was a Christmas gift competition, the gifts being set aside for distribution among local unemployed. A cake icing demonstration was given by Mrs. A. J. Gibbs, Alton. A play entitled “I’m Sorry it’s Out,” was well received, parts being taken by Mrs. Maxwell and Misses Marian Hamerton, F. Hemingway, Joan Spurdie, O. Adams and M. Gibbings. Mrs. R. W. Haddon was presented with a cake in appreciation of many kindnesses. The Mayoress, Mrs. Ramsbottom, presented the institute with a Christmas cake.
