Mias Margaret Fraser left during the week to spend a holiday in Wellington and the Wairarapa.
Miss Ina Dempsey returned on Wednesday after several months holiday at Wellington.
Mrs. Noel Rix-Trott, who has been visiting her mother, Mrs. E. Griffiths, will return to Marton to-day accompanied by Miss Barbara Sumner, who will be her guest.
Mrs. A. L. Humphries left on Wednesday to spend a holiday at Wanganui as the guest of Mrs. Athol Wilson. Miss Betty Keeling is to arrive from Dunedin to-night after several friend-; on the way home.
Mrs. G. Strang was hostess at an afternoon tea during the week. Mrs. P. L. Bennett is visiting Featherston, where she is the guest of Mrs. Elgar.
Mi-« Iris Crook is expected to arrive from Marton during the week-end on a Visit to Mrs. E. Griffiths.
M. Hamerten, Patea, is visiting Miss A. Horner for the week-end. Miss Grace Avery entertained at several tables of bridge on Thursday night. Mrs G. Hetherington has returned after a holiday of several months spent m the South Island.
Mrs. Gilbert, Wanganui, is visiting friends at New Plymouth. Mis. B. L. Twomey was hostess at bridge on Wednesday night. Mrs. Tod, Otane, is spending a holiday at New Plymouth as the guest of Miss Jessie Heme.
Mrs. Franklin White entertained at bridge on Thursday.

Miss M. Miles, who has been visiting Mrs. W. H. Moyes, will return to Fending during the week-end.

Mrs. Ernest Cutfield, Tututawa, is a visitor to New Plymouth and is the guest of Mrs.. J. M. Warnock.
Miss Pickering left for Auckland last night to spend the week-end there. Mrs. Truby King entertained at “Brooklands” on Thursday afternoon. Miss Audrey Eberlet will arrive from ■Christchurch to-night to spend_the summer vacation at New Plymouth. Mrs. Adrian Wharburton haJ been visiting Mrs. F .G. Philpotts, Bell Block, and has returned to Feilding. Miss M. Hill returned on Thursday ■from a short visit to Tikorangi. Miss Claudia Weston, New Plymouth, has passed her first professional examination at the Otago Medical School. Among the guests staying at the Criterion this week are Miss E. M. Cowan, Auckland, Mrs. W. Caulton, Solomon Islands, Mrs. R. Tritton, Brisbane, Mrs. W. C. Yeoman, Wellington, Mrs. F., E. Thornton, New Plymouth, Mrs. E. G. Grant, Wellington.
Visitors at the White Hart this week include Mrs. H. A. Tuck, Auckland, Mrs. C. N. Taylor, Wellington, Mrs. T. Aitken, Wellington, Miss D. Bohan, Wellington, Mrs. A. B. Seecombe, Auckland, Mrs. S. Guinness, Wellington. Mrs. O. E. Flyger was hostess at a very enjoyable golf-croquet afternoon at her home on Wednesday. Golf-croquet was played in the form of a competition and afternoon tea was served. Mrs. Gilbert, Wanganui, Miss Mary Thomson and Mrs. J. C. Morey were the prizewinners.
A reunion of former pupils of Nelson Girls’ College was held last Saturday at the home of Mrs. F. S. Johns, New Plymouth. A pleasant afternoon was spent by all present, who included several who had motored from other parts of Taranaki. The proceedings took the form of a garden party. The winners of competitions were Mrs. H. W. Whitcombe, Mrs. Fletcher (Hawera), Miss Maclean and Miss E. Griffin.
A very enjoyable evening was spent at the home of Mrs. J. Ramson on Thursday, when Miss M. Ramson entertained at a gift evening for Miss K. Liken. Part of the time was spent playing flag bridge, in which Miss M. Campbell, Miss C. Greatbatch and Miss M. Thomas were the prizewinners, and an interesting competition was won by C. Greatbatch. During the evening many gifts were received by the guest of honour.
