Mrs. Sim and Mrs. R. Darling are spending a holiday at Wellington. Mrs. Turner, who has been the guest of Mrs. G. C. Turner, has returned to New Plymouth.
Mrs. R. Lee is visiting Hawke’s Bay. Miss Luxton, Patea, is the guest of Miss I. Bleakley.
Miss P. Street is the guest of Miss E. Belcher for the week-end. Miss M. Fraser, Okaiawa, is the guest of Miss E. Peacock.
Mrs. J. R- M. Stewart is spending a holiday at Wellington.
The Misses Kempthome, Auckland, who have been the guests of Mrs. D. Syme, have returned home. Mrs. Clotworth, Te Aroha, is visiting her sister, Mrs. H. Gubb.
Mrs. Harris, Wanganui, was a visitor here for the croquet tournament.
Mrs. Alex Mitchell, who has been the guest of Mrs. G. McGregor, has returned home.
Miss N. Salmon, New Plymouth, was the guest of Miss W. Carter during the week.
Misses Patricia and Felicie Edwards, Palmerston North, are the guests of their aunt, Mrs. H. W. Death, Fraser Road.
Mrs. H. Wills was hostess at bridge last Friday afternoon. Those present were Mesdames A. Tiplady, D. Syme, M. McGarry, C. A. Belcher, P. De Launay and T. Fountain, Misses G. Syme and P. Fountain.
Mrs. D. H. Saunders was hostess at tea on Wednesday afternoon. Those present were Mesdames J. L. Weir, A. Craig, Lee, C. A. Belcher, J. Quin, Officer, Picard and L. Quin.
Mrs. N. D. Connell was hostess at a dance at her residence on Saturday. Those present were Misses P. Valintine, J. Welch, G. Syme, P. Taplin, M. Griffin, F. Fraser, B. Pease, H. Stewart, D. Riddle, M. Carter, W. Weir and W. Carter.
A coming-of-age party for Mr. Neil Wakelin was held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. T. W. Gibb on Thursday, when the evening was spent in games, musical items, dancing and community singing. Mr. Gibb presented the guest of the evening with a “gold key” and congratulated him.
The Misses Carter entertained a large number of friends at an informal dance at their residence in Mills Street on Thursday night in honour of Mr. Desmond Carter’s coming-of-age. In the absence of Mrs. Carter, who is on holiday at Hamilton, Miss Carter received the guests. She wore a smart model frock of gold lace. A pleasant evening was spent in dancing, an orchestra playing the music. The dining-room was decorated by the Misses Carter in a wealth of early summer flowers. Mr. A. A. Stewart proposed the toast of Mr. Desmond Carter, who was accorded musical honours. Among those present were Mesdames A. Chrystal, A. A. Stewart, J. H. ■Morton and J. Valintine, Misses Z. Masters, O.
