OPERA HOUSE TALKIES. “PEG O’ MY HEART” TO-DAY. “Peg o’ My Heart,” which will be screened at the Hawera Opera House today and Monday, is a picture wholly captivating by its sincerity and Irish charm. In the role of a pert little Irish gamin, Marion Davies plays' one of the happiest parts of her career. The story tells of a little Irish girl who inherits an ancestral estate in England, and is captured by a handsome young lawyer who shows her the doings of the sophisticated life in an English country mansion. The situations that arise when the lass from Ireland arrives to shock all with her unconventional ways are as fumy as they are impossible. The leading man is Onslow Stevens, who takes the party of Jerry, the young lawyer who brings Peg from the little fishing village to the stately English seat with its sedate and formal English people. No happiness is found by Peg in this home, but the complications that ensue through a planned elopement in the family make for a highly intriguing situation. “Peg o’ My Heart” is a simple and intensely human story, its moments of joy and pathos being of irresistible appeal.
