DAMAGE TO THE KAREPO
STRUCK ROCK AT GREYMOUTH. EXAMINATION AT WELLINGTON. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Union Company’s collier Karepo, which was docked to-day for examination and repairs, was found to be slightly , more damaged than was thought. Four or five plates on the starboard bow in the way of No. 1 tanks was found to be badly damaged, one plate being holed and the bilge keel bent for its full length on the starboard side, while there were two minor indentations fairly far aft. The tip of one blade of the. propeller was bent. Repairs are expected to take eight or nine days, and the crew will be paid off to-morrow. The Karepo touched a rock at the south tiphead while entering Greymouth on November 15.
