WAREA BOWLERS DEFEATED

RESULT OF PAST TWO MATCHES. Playing against Auroa on Saturday the Warea bowling team was defeated by 8 points. Details:— A. W. Sheerin, Duff, Bradford, Kilpatrick 20 — Harte, Wi, Kupe, Lawn — 29 Cave, Ross, Corey, Johnstone .. 30 — Sole, Bredin, Muir, Lewis — 18 Totals 50 42 During the week-end Warea played a match against a Waitara team and was 'defeated by eight points. Details:— Wai. Wa. Sampson, Young, Fowler, Whyte 22 — Sole, Goodin, Wi, Muir — 14 The Warea teams to play Okato at Warea next Saturday are: Harte, Doyle, Wi, Lawn; Sole, Bredin, Muir, Lewis. Personal and General. Miss Jean Johnstone is the guest of Miss Elsie Meier. Mrs. E. Chapman is visiting her mother, Mrs. Oldfield, Okaiawa. Mrs. J. Meier is visiting her daughter, Mrs. E. Jeffries, Wellington. The Warea Anglican ladies’ guild held a successful garden party at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. F. Sole, senr. on Saturday. The garden was at its best, the plots and rockery being a mass of colour. The stalls for the verandahs did a brisk trade and the croquet and quoits competitions were well patronised. The winners of the croquet competitions were Mrs. Boswell (clock), Mrs. F. Pennington (golf), Mr. D. Longley (circle), Mr. A. Sole (ladder), Mr. E. Davis ’ (bell) and Mr. T. Woodward won the quoits. A duchess set donated by Mr. E. Davis was won by Mrs. V. Wright, a cake donated .by Mrs. D. Wells was won by Miss N. Wells and a cushion donated by Miss M. Corbett was won by Mrs. T. Woodward. Those in charge of stalls, competitions and afternoon tea were Mesdames F. Sole, J. Goodin, D. Wells, D. Longley, C. Sole, G. Lewis, V. Wright, Misses M. Corbett, R. Goodin. M. Sole, R. Wells, N. Wells, J. Lewis, E. Doody, Messrs. E. Davis and A. Sole. Afternoon tea was served on the lawn. The gross takings amounted to £l4 17s 3d.
