TARIKI GARDEN PARTY HELD
PERSONAL AND GENERAL ITEMS. The Tariki Women’s Institute held a successful garden party at the residence of Mrs. Evans. The well-kept grounds were much admired. Competitions were won by Mesdames Swanson (2), Smith and Miss N. Browning. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Kerr and Brunsell, assisted by junior institute members. An ice cream and soft drink stall was in charge of Miss N. Browning. For the forthcoming drama festival to be held at Inglewood the Tariki institute has entered two plays, a drama “Anniversary” and a comedy “Between the Soup and the Savoury.” Mr. Allan James, Manunui, who visited Tariki recently, is in a critical condition as the result of an accident on the farm, according to advice received by his uncle, Mr. Reg. James, Surrey Road. A horse attached to a cart bolted and in attempting to stop it Mr. James was knocked down, the cart passing over his chest. The Misses Cassidy have returned from a holiday at Auckland.
