WAIKATO WATER SUPPLY
SECOND READING OF BILL LABOUR MEMBER’S OBJECTION. By Telegraph--Press Association. Wellington, Nov. 17. Mr. H. G. R. Mason (Lab., Auckland Suburbs) moved in the House of Representatives to-day the second reading of the Waikato i Water Supply Company Limited Empowering Bill. He said, the Bill would have to go to the committee of selection and it was not necessary to discuss the matter at any length at the present juncture. He suggested that evidence before the committee should be made public. Mr. M. J. Savage (Leader of the Opposition) said there could not be any objection to sending the Bill to the committee. He had no doubt what would happen to the measure when members have been made fully acquainted with the provisions. , Mr. A. Harris (Co., Waitemata) said that all the important local bodies-in Auckland were asking for the Bill. Mr. F. W. Schramm (La., Auckland East) said that whether the Bill went to the committee or not the principle would be the same and fie would oppose it in all stages. . The Bill was read a second time and referred to the Committee of Selection.
