WAITARA GENERAL NEWS

BIBLE CLASSES HOLD RALLY. A Bible class rally was held at the Waitara Methodist Church on Monday. The attendance was large, representatives of Bible classes being present from New Plymouth, Inglewood, Stratford, Waitara, Uruti and Mount Messenger. Ministers and their wives also attended from Inglewood, New Plymouth and Waitara.

The morning was occupied by community singing, and lunch was held in the church grounds. In the afternoon the leaders met and an interesting and instructive time followed with the study circle. Later Mrs. J. Grocott, the president, addressed the gathering, She expressed pleasure at seeing so many present arid urged an extension of the classes. After tea the vistors left for their homes.

Personal and General. Mr. S. G. Fraser has been elected a life member of Court Raleigh, Ancient Order of Foresters. Mr. Fraser was secretary for many years.

Mr. T. Hellier, of the staff of Messrs. Borthwick and Sons, Belfast, Christchurch, who has been staying with his brother, Mr. E. Hellier, Lepperton, spent some days at Waitara. Mr. Hellier will return to Christchurch, next week-end. The ss. Mahurangi arrived at Waitara early on Monday morning with about 120 tons of coal. The vessel discharged her cargo yesterday and sailed for ■Mokau on the night tide.
