The annual meeting of the Huiroa hall society was held on Thursday night. About 40 were present and 30 joined the society. Mr. H. R. Wickham presided. The committee elected consisted of Messrs. H. R. Wickham (chairman), J. H. Stove (secretary), H. J. Read, R. Mitchell, J. Wallace, H. Sunning and W. Blair. The hall, a commodious building having a dance room of 47ft by 34ft and/ supper and other rooms attached, 34ft by 12ft, is nearing completion and when finished should be a great asset to the district as hitherto social gatherings have had to be held in the school. Situated on a rise of dry land close to the junction of Douglas and Makuri Roads and built of sound and seasoned timber, the hall should serve the district for many years. A public meeting will be held shortly to arrange for celebrating the opening. Personals,
