PERSONAL ITEMS.

“We all feel very deeply the loss of a member who has been so long associated with this board,” said the chairman (Mr. W. L. Kennedy) at the meeting of the Stratford Hospital Board yesterday when he moved that a letter of condolence be sent to the relatives of the late Mr. J. O’Neill (Pukengahu), who was a member of the board for 16 years. Other members paid warm tributes to Mr. O’Neill’s fine personality and character. They referred to the service he rendered the community during his membership of various bodies and commented on his success as a farmer and prowess as an athlete. Sympathy with the board’s architect (Mr. J. D. Healy) in the loss of his wife was also expressed. Miss E. Denison, a member of the staff of the Hawera Hospital, was appointed by the Stratford Hospital Board yesterday to the position of staff nurse. Miss Denison received some of her training at the Stratford hospital and is a daughter of the chairman of the Ohura County Council, Mr. G. Denison .
