MATAPU TENNIS CLUB
APPOINTMENT OF OFFICERS. The annual meeting Of the Matapu Tennis Club was held on Friday night, when Mr. J. O’Stillivah presided over a fair attendance. The chairman reported that the membership was 25. A competition in handicap Singles for trophies donated by Messrs Bennett and Sutton and Mr. C. Willis was won by Miss E., O’Dowd and Mr. T. Guy. A competition for buttons donated by Misses E. o‘Dowd and T. O’Sullivan caused a good deal of interest. The following officers were elected: President, Mr. J. O’Sullivan; vice-presi-dents, Messrs B. Barclay, W. Stevenson, C. Willis and J. Reid; secretary, Mr. D. McCallum; club captain, Mr. T. Guy; vice-captain, Miss T. O’Sullivan; delegates to Egmont Tennis Association, Messrs T. Guy and B. Barclay; general committee, Misses T. O’Sullivan, W. Gatenby, M. Guy, I. Reid, Messrs T. Guy, J. Calder, A. Robertson, 11. Willis, E. Guy, D. McCallum and R. Thomas. It was decided to enter a team in the Egmont competition. The opening is to be on October 28. It was left with the secretary to procure a new net and to approach the school committee with regard to a new net. Mrs. Alan Robertson, who underwent an operation in the Eltham Hospital, is progressing favourably.
