ACCESS TO WAIRARAPA

WESTERN HUTT ROAD SCHEME. MINISTER’S FAVOURABLE REFLY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night A deputation from the Hutt. County Council waited upon the Minister of Public Works (the Hon. J. Bitchenei) to-day and requested him to make Western Hutt Road an alternative outlet from Wellington to Wairarapa. The Minister said he had inspected tne road and was in sympathy with the deputation. The total cost of the work would be £139,006 and he understood it would take two years to complete. He would communicate with the Unemployment Board and if it was favourably inclined he would have no hesitation in taking the matter to Cabinet.
